2025/2026 winter season

Main News

The Aosta Valley is ready to welcome skiers for a winter season full of new features, combining innovation, safety, and offers designed for a wide range of visitors.
The official start of the ski season is set for October 25, 2025 with the opening of the Breuil-Cervinia ski area. Other major resorts will follow shortly after, opening on the following dates:

  • Friday, November 28: Pila
  • Saturday, November 29: La Thuile, Courmayeur, and Monterosa Ski
  • From December 6 onwards: The smaller resorts

Reconfirming its commitment to families and young people, the region renews the skipass discounts successfully introduced last season: a 30% reduction on skipasses (daily, multi-day, and seasonal) for children up to 16 years old, and a 20% discount for young people aged 16 to 24.
For those who love quieter destinations and “slow” tourism, the Magic Pass is confirmed. This unique product allows visitors to explore lesser-known but equally charming resorts in the region. Priced at just 100 euros, the Magic Pass includes:

  • Access to 11 resorts throughout the Aosta Valley.
  • Up to 6 ski days, including 3 consecutive days in the same resort—perfect for extended stays.
  • One free hour of ski lessons with an instructor, valid on weekdays (excluding the Christmas and Carnival periods).
  • Free accommodation (for up to two minors) in participating Aosta Valley hotels, making it an ideal choice for families.

The Aosta Valley joins the international Ikon Pass network.

The Aosta Valley is strengthening its position in the global ski market by officially joining Ikon Pass, the prestigious international ski pass that connects some of the world’s most renowned mountain destinations.
Starting from the 2025/2026 winter season, the six main cableway companies of the Aosta Valley — Cervino Ski Paradise, Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie, La Thuile Espace San Bernardo, Monterosa Ski, Pila, and Skyway Monte Bianco — will all be part of the Ikon Pass network.
This strategic partnership aims to open the region to an international audience, especially the North American market, which is increasingly attracted to the Alps.
Ikon Pass holders will have access to seven cumulative ski days in the Aosta Valley. For Ikon Base Pass holders, the available days will be five. Both passes allow skiing throughout the season with no blackout dates.
The agreement also includes the option to use the combined skipass for the cross-border area of Cervino Ski Paradise and Zermatt.

The Aosta Valley invests in safety, quality, and environmental protection

The “invisible” works
Aosta Valley’s lift companies used the summer to complete major investments aimed at improving skier experience and on-slope safety.
Beyond the visible upgrades that define the season’s new features, a number of crucial “invisible works” have been carried out within the resorts to ensure a high-level, safe, and enjoyable ski experience for all.
Although not immediately visible, these significant investments are at the core of the regional strategy to deliver impeccable service and maintain the high standards that distinguish the Aosta Valley.
These include:

  • Lift maintenance: Targeted actions to maintain the efficiency and safety of cableways.
  • Enhanced snowmaking systems: Upgrades to existing facilities to ensure optimal and long-lasting snow coverage.
  • Slope and protection maintenance: Improvements to ski slopes, including installation and inspection of fixed safety nets.
  • Facility maintenance: Restoration and care of resort buildings to ensure maximum comfort for guests.

Environmental protection and landscape enhancement
The Autonomous Region of the Aosta Valley has taken a major step toward preserving its natural heritage with a new law aimed at removing decommissioned ski lift structures.
Through dedicated financial support, municipalities and ski resort operators will be able to dismantle these outdated installations and restore the land, freeing the landscape from obsolete and intrusive elements.
For this project, the Region has allocated a total of 1.5 million euros over the next three years — a major investment that reflects a strong commitment to environmental conservation and landscape enhancement, promoting responsible and sustainable management of the Alpine territory.

Main news for the 2025/2026 winter season:

PILA

Winter 2025–2026 will bring exciting changes to Pila with the inauguration of the new Pila–Couis gondola lift. Starting from December 2025, the new lift will revolutionize access to the upper part of the ski area, offering a premium skiing and tourism experience while pushing Pila toward a future of sustainability and innovation.
The new gondola replaces two existing chairlifts, improving skier and visitor flow. With 10-seater cabins featuring panoramic windows, guests will reach the top of Couis 1 at 2,700 meters in about 15 minutes — a comfortable and scenic journey accessible to everyone, not just skiers.
At the top, visitors will enjoy breathtaking views over the Cogne Valley and the Aosta Valley peaks from the new “Panoramic Bistrot Stella di Pila”. This stylish venue, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass and large terraces, will offer an exclusive dining experience managed in partnership with Skyway Monte Bianco, showcasing the finest Aosta Valley cuisine.
The gondola project was designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability — including heat recovery systems, rainwater reuse, low-impact motors, and energy efficiency that delivers up to 20% energy savings.
Thanks to the new lift, Pila’s ski season will be extended, with opening scheduled for November 28, 2025 and closing on May 3, 2026 (snow conditions permitting). For the first time, Pila will introduce the innovative “Ski & Bike” formula, combining winter and spring sports: skiing and snowboarding in the upper zones, and mountain biking at the Les Fleurs–Pila gondola arrival area — creating a dynamic and original experience.
Other major updates for the 2025–2026 winter include:

  • Snowmaking and slopes: Completion of snowmaking coverage on slopes connected to the new gondola, including the skiway linking to the Couis 2 chairlift slopes.
  • Modernization works: Slopes 27, 8, and 9 have been upgraded for an improved experience for skiers and snowboarders.
  • Renovated fun slope: The playful and dynamic route has been completely renewed for both adults and children.
  • Ski depot: A new spacious and modern heated ski storage area has been built at the Pila gondola base, offering maximum comfort and convenience for guests.

Updates from other resorts
The resorts of Cogne and Crevacol continue to improve the on-slope experience with major upgrades to their snowmaking systems, ensuring high-quality slopes and more efficient artificial snow production.
At Cogne, the complete overhaul of the “Pulsè” gondola — the main access to the resort — has been completed, ready to safely welcome skiers once again.

COURMAYEUR

Winter 2025/2026 in Courmayeur will once again be defined by elegance, adventure, and excellence. With over 1,500 meters of vertical drop, perfectly groomed slopes, and a snowmaking system that covers 80% of the area, Courmayeur stands out as the ideal destination for those seeking authentic emotions and a complete mountain experience.
Beyond skiing, Courmayeur offers a wide range of activities to experience the mountains in a unique way:

  • Exclusive experiences: From sunrise skiing with “Buongiorno Courmayeur” to unforgettable après-ski events, and even romantic evenings aboard a snowmobile with “Snow and Glow”.
  • Family benefits: Families are at the heart of the offer, with skipasses and programs dedicated to young guests, as well as a Mini Club ensuring fun for kids and relaxation for parents.
  • Adventure and gastronomy: For experts, adventure continues with freeride in the Youla couloirs and breathtaking descents through the forests of Val Veny. The cable car, open until midnight, allows access to gourmet restaurants at altitude, where dinner becomes an unforgettable experience — perhaps with a snowmobile ride under the stars.

Excellence remains a top priority. Over the summer, the company continued its modernization plan, which includes:

  • Expansion of the Arp slope: A project that will enhance the skiing pleasure on one of the resort’s most beloved runs.
  • Snowmaking improvements: Additional investments to ensure optimal conditions throughout the ski area.

This season also marks a special anniversary: the Monte Bianco Ski School celebrates its 90th anniversary. Founded in 1936, it is Italy’s largest and one of the oldest ski schools. For nearly a century, it has shared its passion for skiing with generations of enthusiasts — from beginners to champions — spreading the love for mountains and snow sports.
To honor Courmayeur’s sporting excellence, slope No. 14 has been dedicated to Federica Brignone, the first Italian woman to win the Alpine Ski World Cup — a tribute linking Courmayeur to the legacy of international ski greatness.
Future investments
Looking ahead, a major project is set to reshape the heart of the ski area. Two new next-generation gondola lifts are planned to replace the current Checrouit gondola and Maison Vieille chairlift.
This major investment — about 40 million euros — will make the mountain experience even more comfortable, accessible, and sustainable.
The 10-seater panoramic cabins will offer maximum comfort in all seasons, with padded seats, sliding doors for easy access, optimized ventilation, and advanced technology ensuring quiet operation, energy efficiency, and stability even in strong winds.
The Checrouit area will become more user-friendly and organized, thanks to new facilities and an expanded beginner area at Maison Vieille, which will feature two modern conveyors for those taking their first steps on the snow.
The inauguration of the new gondolas is scheduled for the 2026/2027 season — a milestone that will mark a new chapter in the history of the resort, where tradition and innovation meet to deliver the very best.

LA THUILE – ESPACE SAN BERNARDO

La Thuile is preparing for a winter season full of exciting updates, reaffirming its commitment to continuous improvement. While major projects are already underway for the future, the 2025/2026 winter season will offer skiers a high-quality experience thanks to key upgrades to slopes, lifts, and services.
Future projects
Work on the new Les Suches–Chaz Dura gondola lift continues at full speed, with opening planned for the 2026/2027 season. The valley station, lift line, and part of the mid-station are nearly complete. For the 2025/2026 season, skiing will continue on the existing lifts, ensuring full access to the area while awaiting the new infrastructure.
News and improvements for 2025/2026

  • Enhanced snowmaking: The snowmaking line on slope 7 has been extended from the start of the Fourclaz chairlift down to the Lo Riondet refuge and the junction with State Road 26. This will allow the return slope to La Thuile to be open earlier and later in the season, extending the skiing period.
  • Upgraded grooming fleet: The modernization plan continues with the purchase of a new standard snow groomer to ensure perfectly maintained slopes.
  • Real-time information: Two new LED panels have been installed at strategic points in the area — Chaz Dura and Petit Saint-Bernard — in addition to the existing one at the Belvedere summit. These provide real-time updates on the international connection with La Rosière.
  • Renovated Funslope: The Funslope along slope 11 has been completely redeveloped to provide an even more enjoyable experience for all ages.

News from the French side: La Rosière
On the French side of the Espace San Bernardo area, La Rosière has also invested in new attractions:

  • The playful Funcross slope, located under the Plan du Repos chairlift, has been completely renewed.

A new panoramic photopoint has also been installed along the Les Eucherts chairlift line.

BREUIL-CERVINIA – VALTOURNENCHE

As anticipation grows for the ambitious Cervino – The One project, which will connect Breuil-Cervinia to Plateau Rosà, the Cervino Ski Paradise area is preparing to launch the 2025/2026 winter season with significant updates and investments designed to enhance the experience for skiers and visitors.
News in Breuil-Cervinia
Skiers will enjoy a more comfortable ascent thanks to the new cabins on the cableway to Plan Maison. After last year’s maintenance work, this lift remains a key part of the resort and will continue to operate even after the completion of the Cervino – The One project.
In addition, three slopes (24, 29bis, and 4) are now equipped with artificial snowmaking systems, ensuring optimal conditions throughout the season. The transit area at Colle del Teodulo has also been improved, benefiting both skiers arriving from Plateau Rosà and those heading toward Zermatt.
Updates in other resorts

  • Valtournenche: The 5–Canestrini slope has undergone major work, including new snowmaking systems and the installation of an artificial avalanche release system, improving both safety and accessibility.
  • Torgnon: Ski enthusiasts can now enjoy the new Dampe slope. The snowmaking system has been upgraded with 24 new snow guns, ensuring better snow coverage throughout the season.
  • Chamois: Safety has been further enhanced with the installation of new fixed “FIS A” protection nets along the most exposed slope sections.

The Cervino Ski Paradise is ready to welcome snow lovers with lift openings in Breuil-Cervinia on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

MONTEROSA SKI

The Monterosa Ski area is gearing up for a winter full of exciting developments, with targeted investments to enhance the experience for families and snow sports enthusiasts.
Main highlights include:

  • New “Murmeltier” toboggan run: In Staffal (Gressoney-La-Trinité), the new “Murmeltier” sledding slope opens this season. It will operate daily and also on two evenings per week, offering a fun, family-friendly activity even after sunset.
